Snuggle Time Devotions That End With a Hug! by Stephen Elkins

This beautifully illustrated children's book by Stephen Elkins is a celebration of life! I love the fact that there were so many birds, bees, bunnies, blue skies, Bible verses and so much more on each and every page!

The format was the same for each devo. So well organized.
  • Title, verse location, verse written out in a heart with a ribbon swirl.
  • My snuggle up story
  • My snuggle time takeaway
  • My Bible time activity.
  • Hug! time on the side of the page
Though the recommended ages were not listed on Snuggle Time Devotions, I do imagine an entire family  reading this anointed work together. I can't help but smile when I envision how fun reading each day and then making sure each child understands - then hugging would be! This book is the best "tuck-in-time" book ever....

I was happy to see that this book is part of a series and also a video series as well. For more information see www.share-a-hug.com!

Perfumed Letters by Robin T. Smith

Perfumed Letters, an anointed work by author Robin T. Smith was a pleasure to read each morning. Each day I read a new account of God's love for me. This book was beautifully illustrated and subtitles were helpful in summarizing each section. I love a parallel and this book's parallel was perfume and God's love. Scripture was included throughout. The author's writing style was clearly encouraging, positive and passionate.

Miss Robin Smith loves God and His Word and is gifted in sharing through example God's love for each woman. I easily became emotional on page eight when she shared Scripture and inserted several women's names into the verse. I found this powerful and personal and sensitive. I have to admit, I added my name a few times to what she shared. This writing style helped me to become part of this journey into Perfumed Letters.

My favorite quote was found on page 10, " Your objective is to be proactive, and not reactive: Find out who God is in order to know who you are. This cannot happen by purchasing a necklace with a cross on it or imitating a celebrity. I can take it one step further. You will not find out who God is by believing every word of a preacher alone. Yes, for every reference to Scripture verbal or written, verify that it is indeed true. Get a Bible and read it." Amen! This was the direct exhortation with an encouraging spirit that I applauded.

A story stuck with me in which she was traveling alone with her infant son. I was convicted and will assist others more than I have in the past as a result. I can always offer to do something for someone within reason, especially in an airport. There were so many personal stories throughout Perfumed Letters which encouraged, inspired and exhorted me to be a more loving, Christ-centered and fragrant follower.

I highly recommend this book and will refer to often. I read it as a devotional, but it would be wonderful for a woman's Bible study book as well. This was a wonderful tool for sharing with a non-believer as well - the perfect pairing with a bottle of perfume for your mother, sister, friend's birthday. I hope to read more from Miss Robin T. Smith.

Lead. Serve. Love. By Gregory Lang

Lead. Serve. Love. Three words. Consisten with its title, this petite book was designed around three words. Each chapter heading is three words. The subtitle is the mission statement, "100 Three-Word Ways to Be Like Jesus."

The author's passion for God clearly displayed in red, "Dedicated to my Lord, who died for me so that I might live." Truly this author is also a humble man of God. In the Acknowledgment at the back of the book he shared," Indeed, I am a depraved, morally bankrupt, wretched sinner through and through. I've attended church sporadically most of my life, haven't spent a minute in seminary, and only recently gave the Bible more than a cursory review. I've attended exactly one theology class, and I dropped out of it."

Mr. Lang then gives all the glory to the Holy Spirit. He gives thanks for his salvation through Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. With each turn of the page, a three-word title is listed and underneath an exhortation to change is announced. The next page is a list of appropriate and contextually accurate Scripture references with the reference written out. Perfect for a daily devotional or a quick break from your day! How often do we not take even three minutes to crack open a devotional book because we think our devotion time has to be more in-depth? Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.

I love the description on the back of the book, "Lead by example. Serve each other. Love the unloved. Simple yet profound, these three-word messages will help you live like Jesus. Give second chances. Help others succeed. Believe in miracles. Change doesn't have to be overwhelming. Practice one down-to-earth message each day, and see your life change in an eternal way."

Great gift book. Wonderful daily devotional. Inspirational pick me up. Buy it today!!
